万圣夜的象征物是南瓜灯(也叫杰克灯、杰克灯笼)，另外还有南瓜雕空当灯笼的故事。这又是源于古代爱尔兰。故事是说一个名叫杰克(英文：JACK) 的人，是个醉汉且爱恶作剧。一天杰克把恶魔骗上了树，随即在树桩上刻了个十字，恐吓恶魔令他不敢下来，然后杰克 就与恶魔约法三章，让恶魔答应施法让杰克 永远不会犯罪为条件让他下树。 杰克 死后，其灵魂却既不能上天又不能下地狱，于是他的亡灵只好靠一根小蜡烛照着指引他在天地之间倘佯。 在古老的爱尔兰传说里，这根小蜡烛是在一根挖空的萝卜里放着，称作“JACK LANTERNS”，而古老的萝卜灯演变到今天，则是南瓜做的 Jack-O-Lantern 了。据说爱尔兰人到了美国不久，即发现南瓜不论从来源和雕刻来说都比萝卜胜一筹，于是南瓜就成了万圣节的宠物。

由于我准备得太匆忙了，所以我就没有准备鬼故事。我们这个组就由拉拉和典娜来讲鬼故事，看看小汤和张登他们那一组，都有家长在帮忙指导的，他们的组员也在家长的指导下安静的听，可我们这组呢，却没有家长来指导我们，你们看，那些调皮捣蛋的男生还在那开心无比的玩耍呢。这些男生彻彻底底地把我们女生的信心给击灭了，我们这次肯定输定了！ 比赛开始，第一个上场的是小汤他们队，袁冶讲鬼故事结结巴巴，我们不禁心想：唉，他们其实也不过如此嘛！想到这里，我终于松了一口气。大家都讲了许多令人毛骨悚然的鬼故事，最后就连我们的登妈都大展身手为我们讲了一个历史上最恐怖的鬼故事。
接下来的节目就是自由活动啦，我们玩起了大家都爱玩的捉迷藏，可这些躲起来的人都可不像话啦，我们抓的都已经看到他们了，他们还一个劲地跑，还说要抓到他们的身体才算，这时，我突然想到了一句话：冬瓜皮，西瓜皮，躲的同学们都耍赖皮。
恐怖的万圣节就这样完美地结束了，我们大家似乎都没有玩够，个个都不肯回家，虽然这次的万圣节我们没有去要糖，但我依然觉得今年的万圣节是最好玩的一次！
